COOLJAZZ CARBON FREE - Total compensation for CO2 emitted

For over 10 years COOLJAZZ has been a Carbon Free festival.
In the 2022 edition, CO2 compensation totaled 110 tons, which includes not only the festival's operation, but also the artists' travel and accommodation.
Offsetting CO2 emissions was carried out through investment in carbon sequestration projects developed in Portugal, promoting biodiversity, regulating the water cycle and soil fertility. The project used in this compensation was in forest management. All carbon sequestered in forest soil and biomass through forest area, according to the NIR PT 2013 methodology.
This fixed carbon makes it possible to offset all of the festival's greenhouse gas emissions in the 2022 edition, thus allowing it to be a more sustainable festival.
EDP ​​finances the project by Sociedade Agrícola Terraprima, which makes it possible to fix carbon annually, in order to demonstrate the viability of using natural sinks of agroforestry origin in the national reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, thus making a contribution to the objectives of the national carbon neutrality.
In 2023, COOLJAZZ will continue to offset the CO2 emitted, through a partnership with Sociedade Ponto Verde.

ECO CUP - 100% RECYCLABLE CUPS

Glass purchased at the time of purchase of the first drink, in any bar of the festival grounds for the symbolic value of 1€, which the viewer can take home and reuse - thus reducing the number of plastic cups in the event and their waste.

STRAW FREE


STRAW FREE

The festival returns to take over as STRAW FREE, thus leaving no straws in the bars of the venue. This measure again contributes to the conscious use and profitability of the resources made available.

ZERO DESPERDÍCIO

COOLJAZZ FESTIVAL IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ZERO DESPERDÍCIO DEVELOP A POLICY TO USE THE FOOD SURPLUS PRODUCED BY THE FESTIVAL.
IN THE 2022 EDITION OF COOLJAZZ, 175KG OF SURPLUS FOOD WAS COLLECTED AND REDISTRIBUTED, GENERATING THE EQUIVALENT OF 350 MEALS, THUS AVOIDING THE EMISSION OF 3.7 TON OF CO2, GENERATING AN ECONOMIC VALUE OF €875.
SINCE 2011, ZERO DESPERDÍCIO HAS A NETWORK AGAINST FOOD WASTE AND THE IMPACT HAS ALREADY EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS AND OBTAINED RESULTS BOTH IN THE LEVEL OF FOOD RECOVERED AND (RE) DISTRIBUTED, AS IN TERMS OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
